The Noor Center for Linguistics at the University of Alnoor examines the similarities between the Arabic language and the Semitic languages

In the presence of Professor Dr. Ismail Abdul Wahab, Assistant President of Al-Noor University for Scientific Affairs, the Alnoor Center for Linguistics at the university held a workshop on Sunday, 15 March 2026, entitled (Similarities between the Arabic Language and the Semitic Languages: Hebrew as a Model), which was conducted by Professor Dr. Mohammed Basil Alazzawi , The Director of the Centre attended the workshop, and the lecture was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Tarek Hazem Taha. He addressed aspects of linguistic convergence between Arabic and the Semitic languages, with a focus on Hebrew as a model for study and comparison. The lecture covered several key themes, including similarities in morphological structure and the trilateral root system, as well as parallels in certain vocabulary and linguistic constructions. It also highlighted the shared historical background of Semitic languages and their development throughout different eras. In addition, the workshop featured scholarly discussions among attendees on the importance of comparative linguistic studies in understanding language development and in promoting scientific research in the field of linguistics, given their role in revealing historical and cultural relationships between languages and peoples. This workshop comes as part of a series of academic activities organized by the Al-Noor Centre for Linguistics, aimed at supporting linguistic studies and enhancing interest in comparative linguistic research across languages.
