The Language Club at the Linguistics Center of Alnoor University launches its first discussion session
In its inaugural activity, and in the presence of Professor Dr. Yaseen Taha Alhajjar, President of Alnoor University, and Professor Dr. Ismail Abdul Wahab, Scientific Assistant to the University President, the Language Club affiliated with the Center for Linguistics at Alnoor University organized an English-language discussion session on Saturday, 28/2/2026. The session, open to students, faculty members, and interested parties, focused on an important topic in professional life: which is more valuable in the workplace, an academic degree or practical experience?—in light of the role of required skills in the labor market. The session presented diverse and differing opinions, with participants highlighting the importance of academic qualification as the theoretical and methodological foundation, in contrast to practical experience, which is considered the true measure of competence and the application of knowledge in real-life contexts, emphasizing that mastery of skills represents the intersection of both. The session was moderated by Assistant Lecturer Mohammed Bashar and media professional Yasmin Amer, who contributed to enriching the discussion and organizing the participants’ interventions, adding a distinctive interactive character to the session that reflects the Language Club’s objectives of promoting a culture of dialogue and developing English communication skills within the university community. The session was also attended by Professor Dr. Kamel Ali Abdul Mohsen, Dean of the College of Engineering Technology, andProf. Dr. Khzaal Fahti Zaidan The Dean of the College of Education, Professor Dr. Munir Salem Albadrani, the Scientific Advisor of the University, and a number of directors from the University Presidency departments.
